Sustaining Way

Sustaining Way and its demonstration site, Annie’s House, were born as part of a life-long journey. Sustaining Way’s ultimate mission is to use education, collaboration and advocacy to create sustainable, caring and equitable communities for current and future generations. In order to practice this mission, we use our demonstration site, Annie’s House, located in Nicholtown, a rich and historical community. Through Annie’s House, we are able to model sustainable practices, provide a center for education, while housing passionate coordinators who create intentional community connections and lead our organizations’ impactful programs.

Want to dive into what sustainability means as we practice it in our community? Check out our six areas of sustainability: Food & Landscape, Energy & Energy Efficiency, Consumption & Waste, Healthy Lifestyles, Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability.

Upstate Forever grant for septic system repairs

Septic repair

If you own property in the highlighted area above, you may qualify for low cost septic repairs.

Upstate Forever is nearing the end of a 3 year grant cycle aimed at reducing bacteria and sediment pollution in the South, North, and Middle Tyger Rivers. To date they have provided financial assistance to 36 homeowners to repair their septic tanks. They say that they have limited funding available in this round and would like to extend it to homeowners in the area who may need septic assistance. They also hope to receive additional funding at the end of the year for another 3 years that will allow them to help more homeowners in the future.

Upstate Forever is a conservation organization that protects critical lands, waters, and the unique character of the Upstate of South Carolina. Learn more at upstateforever.org.
